Liar Liar Pants on Fire

The one thing that annoys me more than any of the other things on my rather large list of annoyances, is liars. Obviously I lie occasionally, who doesn't? However, I am not talking about harmless white lies. I am specifically talking about people who consistently tell lie after lie which further leads to them hurting the ones around them. An example of small lies is when: you say your friends parents food is really good (but in reality it tastes really bad), telling your parents that you are going to stop going out for food, or even saying that you're going to the washroom while you are actually going to do laps with a friend (sorry Mrs. Le). An example of a big lie is basically anything that can get yourself or someone else in trouble, or hurt those around you. What is the point of pathologically lying? Is it supposed to make the person feel better? What happens when everyone finds out that you constantly lie? I have no clue; because sooner or later the truth will somehow come out. Lying is the thing that annoys me the most because in my opinion, it is pointless, harmful, and just plan dumb.

  1. I agree that there is a difference between white lies and lies that are actually harmful. As a parent, I wonder where my lying (fibbing?) needs to end. For example, I often tell my 2.5 year olds white lies, such as, "Zehrs has run out of cookies" or "Your doll is sleeping over at Grandma's tonight".

PS Sometimes a two minute lap with a friend is okay...everyone needs a break.

    1. Does that mean I can take a stress-relieving jog during 10:25-11:40? (just joking)

  2. Steven Hogenhout I agree with your blog post completely. Little white lies are not bad if not harmful to any other people but when peoples white lies turn into full flegded lies that will be hurtful to people that is when a problem arises or people who are pathelogical liars and next to everything that comes out of their mouth is a lie or exageration I too begin to get annoyed.

  3. In my opinion Steven, without lying nothing exciting would ever happen. Sure people get hurt sometimes but how do people get stronger if they don't get lied to? They don't. So overall, liars are a vital part to our society by strengthening people and helping them learn.

    1. OK, Gavin. On that reply I have to take you up on that challenge. Theoretically, let's say from birth to 18 years old, everybody tells a person lies and there is not a word of truth said to that person. Will that person be the strongest in the world because he is simply "immune" to lying? And just for good measure, tell me a time where a lie was actually good for a person.
P.S. Liars aren't the only ways that you learn in society
